William Shatner is at his over-the-top best as Matt Stone, a disturbed but charismatic con-man, who specializes in bilking lonely widows out of their life savings with phoney investment schemes. Deeply scarred by his cruel and violent father, Matt has a killing impulse, and often goes wild when cornered or under pressure. When one such confrontation leads to a death, he flees to a fresh start in another town. Once there, he quickly develops new business and new amorous interests, and for a while things seem to be going his way. But Matt's past has a way of catching up with him, and all too soon he finds himself cornered and under pressure again, with the impulse to kill growing stronger...
