Professor Andrew Boran (Scott), a communications researcher at a top-secret aerospace facility, has stumbled across something unexplainable. After many months of recording cryptic signals coming from deep space, Andrew now finds that the same signals are being sent back to the cosmos from Earth! With some work, he is able to decode a few of the messages, discovering to his amazement that they contain accurate predictions of huge natural catastrophies. His superiors show little interest in his work, so Andrew decides to investigate on his own. He and his wife Sue (Lyon) locate the origin of the signals, where they find a seemingly benign convent, run by the mild-mannered Father Pergado (Lee). How could this place have anything to do with the strange transmissions and the frighteningly accurate predictions? Soon they will know... and then they will face a decision which is beyond imagining!
