Totenkopf is the German word for "Death's Head" and is used to describe a military insignia featuring a skull above crossed bones. The use of the symbol as a military insignia began with the cavalry of the Prussian Army under Frederick the Great. It’s just a sinister image, and tells you exactly what armed forces are used for.
